FRANKIE JOBLING – “WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN YOU GO QUIET”

A scene that just won’t stop burgeoning, neo-soul is quickly becoming one of the most compelling movements in the UK. A name freshly added to the list of illustrious talents, Frankie Jobling is a Newcastle-based singer-songwriter staking her claim in the realms of the genre. Inspired by classic names like Aretha Franklin and Billie Holiday, Jobling has a vitality to her vocal ability that is rare to find, which is more than matched by an acute and profound lyrical acumen. Finding her sound and place in the industry, we are loving Frankie’s rise!

Jobling’s new single is a serene and immersive effort. Dreamy, jazz-laden guitar work gives way to groove-laden bass and soft percussion, but there is clearly one star element to the song – Jobling’s dazzling vocals. With an individualistic tone that bursts with emotion, the singer flaunts her technique and willingness to convey the feeling of the lyricism through her performance. The hook is ear-worm and impactful, with a provoking breakdown and crescendo towards a climax finale providing some added texture and depth to the cut.

Speaking on the single, Jobling comments, “Where Do You Go When You Go Quiet is a song about mental health and the distance that struggling with problems alone can put between you and your loved ones. I wrote it in August 2021 after watching a loved one suffer in silence – instead of being able to open up, you could see the distracted way they drifted off sometimes hence the lyrics – where do you go when you go quiet”.

The ethereal quality of the song is matched by its new hazy, vibrant visuals, which you can check out below!
